NEWTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
Sir, —I regret that your correspondent "Householder," should see fit to describ the meeting of householders held Apri 26th inst. as "rowdy and unruly." Sue] a description is misleading and contrar , to fact. At no time did the meetinj get out of control or refuse to obey th< chair or the call for order. It is tru> we had a difference of opinion and per haps a little more noise than was neces sary, but so long as the chairman' authority is not defied you cannot ea; that a meeting is unruly. The chairmai (Mr. John Jenkin) stood firmly by tb rules of debate and Parliamentary pro cedure, and in my opinion the meetinj was well conducted and free, from any thing in the nature of rowdyism. On l cannot deny the fact that the hall is fa too email. Despite the fact that tb night was a particularly bad one, th place was crowded; many people had h go away, not being able to gain admis eion; others had to stand "around th' doorway the whole evening. lam satis fied the committee will meet the expres wish of the householders and engage j bigger hall for our next annual meeting I am, etc., D. BRADLEY.
