The party, consisting of Mr. W. Simp- ■ son, a fisherman, and Mrs. Simpson, Mr. , J. Anderson, a labourer, and Mrs. Anderson, and Mr. J. Stewart, a retired far- ; mcr, left the port at 6.30 p.m. in Mr. , Simpson's 38-foot fishing launch, Kia ! Ora. The launch ran on the training , ! wall through mistaking the guiding 1 lights and canted over, slowly filling. , ! The party spent almost the whole time i on the haif-submerged gunwale, and it i was not till 7.30 this morning when the , 1 driver of a bus on the Peninsula Road I noticed frantic waving from what looked , • like a raft. The bus driver sped for the powder [ hulk and there fortunately found the t launch Queen of Beauty moored. Mr. ' A. F. Russell, of Invercarpill, the owner, i proceeded with others to the rescue, and ■ the party, nearly perished with cold, ' were brought to town. i The launch, which is valued at £600, ■ will, it is expected, easily be refloated.
