N.Z. AND THE STRIKE.
» PREMIER'S MESSAGE. SOLID FOR THE CONSTITUTION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The following message has been sent by the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Prime Minister, to the editor of the "Morning Post," in response to the lat-ter's request, which was received before news had been received of the collapse of the strike: "I have no desire to comment upon matters of internal administration in the Mother Country, but there is no disguising the fact that the present industrial crisis must have far reaching effects upon the Empire. As far as New Zealand is concerned, I should just like to say that we stand solidly for constitutional government. There need be no uncertainty as to our attitude. We say to the Government and our kinsfolk at Home, 'We are with you in your days of trial and will help you to the utmost of our resources.' Notwithstanding the seriousness of the present position, we feel that the traditional common sense >nd practical sagacity of the British »ple will guide them to a satisfactory nition.— (Signed) Coates."
