SUPREME COURT.
CHARGE OF INCEST. RETRIAL OF ROWE. The jury having disagreed at the last sessions in the trial of George Bevington Riowe, charged with incest at Mangatawhiri, the accused appeared before Mr. Justice Stringer in the Supreme Court this morning for retrial. The case, which covers unpleasant details, is proceeding, the daughter of the accused, upon whom the alleged crime was perpetrated, giving lengthy evidence. Mr. Paterson is prosecuting, and Mr. Leary appears for the accused. REMANDED FOR SENTENCE. Norman George Aldridge, who pleaded guilty to a charge of indecent assault on a girl aged five years, appeared before Mr. Justice Stringer for sentence. Mr. R. A. Singer, for the accused, applied for a remand in order to institute further inquiries. His Honor granted a remand for one week. GUILTY OF INDECENCY. Having been found guilty on Tuesday on three charges of indecent assault on native -boys at Rawene, Robert Stewart Banner appeared before Mr. Justice Stringer in the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon for sentence. Mr. Hall Skelton, for the accused, called evidence in support of the prisoner's previous good conduct and character. As counsel had further evidence to call, the accused was remanded for sentence until Monday.
