MINISTER OF MINES.
VISIT TO WAIHI. DEPUTATIONS RECEIVED. (Br Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. The Mini-tor of Mines, Hon. G. J. Anderson, and party, accompanied by Mr. A. M. Samuel. mcmbeT for the dis"trict, arrived at Waihi today, and was met hy the Mayor, members of the council, and representatives of local institutions. At the Borough Council chambers, in a brief address of welcome, the Mayor congratulated the "Minister on his reappointment to the Cabinet. He said the town was looking forward to a revival of the mining industry, but would not welcome anything in the nature of a wild-eat boom, the results of which had always proved disastrous. The Mayor also referred to the immense possibilities of the district from a mining Standpoint and was satisfied the Minister Mould do everything possible in the interests of genuine prospecting operation?.
