A DEBATABLE POINT.
WHAT IS A "DELAY"? (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HASTINGS. Wednesday. The Hastings Rugby Sub-union, at its meeting, received a letter from the Pirates' Club, Napier, protesting against the action of the referee in last Saturday's match against Hastings, in allowing two minutes* extra play. Mr. Maddison, the referee, stated the Pirates' players deliberately wasted time, and his action was justified. He quoted from the rules to show that a. referee had power to award extra time for delays during a match, but the worn "drlavo" wa« not defined.
