It is pleasing , to be able to report that the Customs returns for the first quarter of the current year show an increase as compared with the corresponding period ror last year. The llg-ures are ai rollows:— 1023. 1926. Imports • £257,337 £294,119 Exports £370,22u £407,867 Total Trade .. £637,557 £701,980 The duty collected for Imports this year has been £53.47 2, as compared witn £54,100 Tor last year. The exports incluSod sugar 14,126 J tons as against 13,339 tons, the values being £208,645 and £226,808. Copra, 5353 tons, against 4046 tons, values £114,785 and £32.850. Bananas, 2*2 bunches, 64,497 cases, ag-ainst 1203 bunches ana 02,980 cases, values £20,805 and £i' 7,464. Molasses, 2342 tons, against 1688 tons, values £2342 ana £1088. Rubber, 52.U061D ag-ainst 25,031], values £8506 and £1397. Trocas Shell, 188 tons, ajjuinst 210 tons, values £15,737 and £12.858. Other articles £28,147, ag-ainst £17,149.
