POLICE OFFICERS MISSING.
FOUL PLAY SUSPECTED. GOLD STEALING INQUIRIES. (Received 1 p.m.) PERTH, May 10. A police investigation is in progress regarding the mysterious disappearance of Detective-Inspector Walsh and Sergeant Titman, of the West Australian police, who left Perth on April 28 to make investigations some miles from Kalgoorlie. They have not since been heard of. Both men were employed in investigations into gold stealing, and as the utmost secrecy is observed in these cases, nobody knows what their actual destination was. Both were excellent hushmen and were probably armed. Foul play is suspected and black trackers are scouring the country.— (A. and N.Z.)
