Indications are that the 44-hours' trouble is spreading beyond its present limits. The building trade employees have called a meetng for next Saturday to discuss their attitude. A circular says the building trade employees have not vet obtained any definite form of organisation, and calls upon them to present a united front fighting on industrial lines. Representatives of the Melbourne Trades Hall Council have arrived in Sydney to discuss the 44-hour movement with the local disputes committee. This points to the possibility of Victoria becoming involved.— (A. and N.Z.) METAI TRADE 'WORKERS. MORE FIRMS INVOLVED. (Received 1.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The strike of the Federal Metal Trades Unions against the awards has now been in progress for more than a week. In the majority of cases the men have received financial assistance from their unions. Minors on the South Coast are not favourable to the present enginedrivers' strike, contending that as the enginedrivers failed to support the miners in the recent dispute the miners should not support them now.
