STRONG MAN'S DEATH.
MR. J. J. DOYLE.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ] WELLINGTON", this day. ! At the age of 77 death has one notable figure in New Zealand's athletic world in the person of Mr. J. J. Doyle, runner, boxer, weight-lifter* and exponent of physical culture. As ai youth he was a digger, then joined tha police, and later became chief inspector of nuisances in Wellington. All tha time he was looked to as the leading light in athletic matters. Personally ha had remarkable physical development, and could hold his own with most "strong men."
