SUBURBAN OBSERVANCES.
A' commemorative, service will be held in the Victoria Theatre, Devonport, at '3 p.m., to-morrow. Bands, naval and military units; boy scouts, girl guides and friendly societies will march from Marine Square to the theatre at '2.45. The Mayor (Mr. T.: Lam on t)..will preside at the service. The clergy of Takapuna will conduct a service in the Foresters' Hall, Takapuna, at 3 o'clock to-morrow. The Mayor (Mr. J. D. Morison j will preside, and returned- soldiers, territorials, lodge members, and the public are in-, vited to attend. There will be a procession from Hauraki Road to :the hall, "prior to the. service.. A combined service is to be held in the picture theatre, . Manurewa, at . 7 o'clock,- when an address will be delivered by the Rev. F., T. Read. A church parade will be held at Onehunga' to-morrow, Anzac Day. The 21st Battery,' N:Z.A., and'th'e-Scouts will parade at the school grounds, at 10.30 a.m., and headed by the Onehunga Town Band march to St. Peter's Anglican Church. Major F. C. Soar will be in command.
Impressive Anzac ceremonies were held yesterday afternoon .at the Northcote Junior High School, where Mr. "E. C. Cutten, S.M., president of the Young Citizens' League, addressed the scholars, -and lat the Northcote primary school, where the secretary of the League, Mr. H. Stebbing, gave an address. IN THE CHURCHES. Special commemorative services will be held throughout the day, in St. Mary'? Cathedral, Parnell. . The preacher., at evensong will be the Rt. Rev. . Bishop , Anders on.
Members of the Soldiers' Mothers' League will attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. in St. Matthew's Church. The "Dead March" will be played, and the "Last Post" sounded by a trumptei-. Wreaths, are to be placed .on. the a/ltar prior to the service. . , . The roll of honour will be read during a memorial celebration of the Holy Eucharist in the Church of the-.Epi-phany, Newton, at 11. a.m. In the-even T ing, there will be a special Too. H. commemoration, with the- ceremony of the light. The subject of the sermon to be preached by Eev. Geo. Coats is, "Toe JL—the only Living War Memorial.". At St. Patrick's Cathedral, .Bishop Cleary will preside at Solemn High Mass at 11 a.m. Rev. Father Eccelton, S.M., -will preach the occasional sermon. The "Dead March" will' be played after' Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in the evening.
