N.Z. YACHT PSYCHE.

ENCOUNTERS BIG STORM.

STURDY LITTLE VESSEL.

MANY DAYS DISCOMFORT,

(By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyrij-at.i

(Received 12 noon.)

SYDNEY, this day.

The yacht Psyche, which arrived yesterday from Wellington, after a 20 days' trip, encountered a portion of the storm which raged throughout last week-end. She came through practically unhurt. Leaving Picton on April 5 the yacht was only 65 miles off Sydney on April 14. Then her progress was stopped for four days by adverse winds and overwhelming seas. The little craft hove-to for many hours, once for a whole day, then north-easterly winds took her off her course, and it was not till yesterday that she was sighted off the Heads.—(A. and N.Z.). Of ten tons register, the Psyche is the largest yacht owned at Wellington. Under the command of Captain Townsend, of Auckland, who had with him as crew Messrs. A. Scott, R. Quinlan, and an engineer, the little vessel sailed out of Wellington on April 3. Stormy weather was encountered at the outset of the voyage and the yacht was compelled to put into Picton for repairs. Built at Picton in 1925, the Psyche is now owned by Mr. G. H. Jackson, of Lyall Bay, Wellington, who is at present in Australia. '
