THE LEAGUE CODE.
POSITION OF DELEGATES. FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY. A matter over which there was considerable discussion at the meeting of the Auckland Rugby League last evening was the voting on all important questions of delegates representing Leagues where the code, was not played. The chairman (Mr. W. J. Hammill), first mentioned the matter when remarking upon the annual meeting of the New Zealand Council which will be held this evening. Mr. Hammill said it was time the position of delegates on the council' was thoroughly gone into, and the Auckland League should oppose the holding of seats by delegates representing places where League was not played. Mr. E. Phelan also criticised what he termed the present unconstitutional method of the council in permitting such delegates to occupy seats. No League was played in Hawke's Bay and yet that province had two votes on any matter considered by the council. Mr. R. Doble supported the other speakers and remarked that at the last conference at Wellington when the important question of the coming tour of England was considered, six votes were recorded by delegates whom he considered had no right to vote. After further discussion it was decided to support a proposal challenging the right of delegates to represent Leagues which were non-existent. The following grounds were allotted for Saturday next when the season will open:— Senior A Grade.—Ponsonby v. Devonport, No. 1. Carlaw Park. 3 p.m., Mr. W. Mlnchaw ; City v. Newton, No. 2, Carlaw Park, 3 p.m.. Mr. H. Taylor; Richmond v. Athletic. No. 1, Domain, 3 p.m., Mr. A. Saunders. Senior B Grade.—Parnell v. Ellerslie, No. 2, Domain, 3 p.m., Mr. L. Bull; Mangere v. Northcote, No. 1, Victoria Park, 3 p.m., Mr. IV Hill; Kingsland v. Otahuhu, Otahuhu, 3 p.m., Mr. P. Rogers.
