PROSPECTING METHODS.
ON A SCIENTIFIC BASIS. STATE OFFICER WITH PARTIES. (By Telejrraph—Press Association.) GREYMOUTII, this day. Speaking at tho Kumara jubilee banquet yesterday, the Minister of Mines, the Hon. G. J. Anderson, referring to prospecting said it was impossible today to get prospectors to go out as the pioneers did. He had devised a new system for prospecting portions of the Dominion. The Government had decided to abolish the rjresent system of subsidising prospecting parties and to place the efforts on a more scientific rooting. A conference of the Department's geologists would be held and it would lie then decided what areas should be prospected by special parties headed by a mining geologist. Cabinet had approved the proposals and a sum will be placed on the next Estimates. Local bodies or prospecting associations may apply to participate in such a scheme.
The Minister left for Christchurch today. He has received an invitation to attend the Dunstan jubilee, on Tuesday next.
