EMPIRE TRADE MOVEMENT.
INTEREST IN AUCKLAND. Increasing interest has been awakened in Auckland in the past few days in the new Empire Trade Expansion League, and a number of business men in the city have expressed their willingness to form a committee, with a view to inaugurating an active policy in this province. Speaking of the movement to-day. Mr. W. J. Keys, secretary of the International Forestry Delegation, said that ! a great lead had beon given to the movement by the recent announcement by His Majesty at the British Industries Fair, and the statement also made by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, on the need of strengthening Empire trade. The Empire trade movement ha 3 been responsible for a local movement, which has, as its objective, the furthering of New Zealand's manufactures and the ex- | tension of our industries. Though at present in its early stages, the new movement has attracted the attention of business men here and in the South, and its development and purpose were reviewed in the "Star" of Saturday week. Since that time the interest in the movement has reached the camber of Commerce, and it is now asserted by Mr. Keys that it has the confidence of the exhibition authorities at Dunedin, who have assisted in spreading its propaganda.
