A HELPING HAND.
BRITISH FILM' INDUSTRY. GOVERNMENT GIVING AID. (Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, February 22. The "Daily Express" announces the future Board of Trade policy towards the film industry. It says that a British film-making studio will he established, probably at Brighton. If, at the end of a year, great elevelopments have not beon reached in the production of British films, the Government will not help the scheme financially, but at the same time will continue to encourage it. The Government, the "Express" says further, will legislate, making it illegal for cinemas to tie themselves to American combines by the block system of bookings. Tlie cinemas will also be eompelleel to book a fixed percentage of British films.—(A. and N.Z. Cable)
