BLACKSMITH'S SUICIDE.

THIRD EFFORT SUCCEEDS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DTJNEDIN, Friday. Frederick William Hughes, aged 55, a blacksmith, whose wife is living ih Dunedin, committed suicide in a determined manner at Alexandra this morning. He was employed at the Public Works, Chatto Creek, and went to Alexandra yesterday for medical advice. He 6et out for Dunedin, and as the express was crossing the bridge he jumped off the train, but was not hurt. While proceeding back to Alexandra by motor he jumped out, falling 50ft. Although terribly injured, he cut his throat with. _a pocket knife before help arrived, anddied in a few minutes. » .
