» The unemployed waiting list at the local office of the Labour Department to-day contained the name 6of 173 men, of whom 147 were classed as fit for heavy and 26 for light work. Labourers numbered 73, motor drivers 12, seamen artd firemen 10, and cook and hotel workers 0. Since Monday the Department has placed in private employment 15 labourers, 5 farm hands, 3 factory hands, and men in various other trades, bringing the total so placed to 29.
