RETIREMENT FROM BENCH. To-morrow (Sunday) sees the termination of Sir Robert Stout's appointment as Chief Justice of New Zealand, and hig retirement will be recognised by the Bar of New Zealand, who will tender him a formal farewell at Wellington on Monday morning in the Supreme Court where he has presided so ably for ma ,, — years. It is expected that the other justices will be present and the senior judge, Mr. Justice Reed, will preside. The Attorney-General (the Hon. Downie Stewart! will speak on behalf of the Bar, and it is expected that there will be a very larpe attendanco of Wellington practitioners.
