SOUTHDOWNS IN DEMAND. OTHER BREEDS NEGLECTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HASTINGS, Friday. The ram fair was continued to-day. The demand for flock Romneys was even poorer than yesterday, prices ranging from 1* to llgs, the latter heing paic , by Mr. W. C. A. McKenzie, of Havelock North, for six shearlings sold on account of Mr. Adam McKay. Masterton. The market for Lineolns was slack to the last degree, there being no sales over ogs, and only two at that figure. The bulk of the offering was passed in. . With the Sbutbdowns things took a decided turn for the • better, there being a comparatively brisk demand, with good average prices. Among the stud the Southdowns met with a fair response from the buyers, prices ranging from 10gs to SOgs, the latter price being paid for a shearling sold on account of Mr. C. E. Vile, Bulls, to Mr. A. Symes, Hastings. Stud Eomneys ranged from 11 to 60gs, the top price being paid by Mr. J. Holden, Hastings, for a shearling sold on account of Mr. C. Wagland, Masterton. This was the top price of the market. Lincolns were practically neglected, the highest figure being 13gs, but Southdowns were in popular demand from 10gs to 36, 46 and 50gs. Tn the flock rams, Border and English Leicester and Rylands had small entries, which were ignored. Corriedales were also in very poor demand, but the offerings were small. Two lots reached <H and 7gs.
