NO TROUSERS FOR SOLDIERS.
CLOTH SHORTAGE. WASHINGTON, January 10. TSvo million soldiers would be ready if the United States suddenly engaged in war—but there -would be no trousers for them. This is due to lack of khaki material, and there seems to be no means by which the shortage can be remedied. New uniforms of blue are suggested, as cloth of this colour can always be obtained easily. If the change is made, and it seems likely, American soldiers .will be the only troops not in khaki, which has been proved to be the most suitable for active service conditions.
