ONEHUNGA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

! The first meetinz of thp One>hun;r* Borough Council this .rear was held last night, when thpre were present: Messr*. J. E. Cowell (Mayor). \V. N. Melntosh (Deputy Mayor). T. Gilbert. H. Sfoupe, J. Bus Regulations.—The proprietors of the iuckiand Omnibus Association wrote protesting against the proposed regulations for the control of motor buses. Donations. —The council donated the sura of £5 .">/ to the Onehunjra Carnival to be held in March. Also £1 1/ towards the picnic fund r> of the Local Bodies Employee's' Association. An application for a snbscripr tion for the Auckland Regatta to be held on January 2*J. was declined. Auctioneers' License.—The license of Mr. A. Grainger-Drake, auctioneer, was renewed. The town clerk reported that the fee of £40 had been received. Power Board Klection.—The secretary of thp Auckland Electric Power Board notified the council that an election of new members of the board will be held next April. He also wrote that for future occasions each local body should supply one certified copy of th« roll of ratepayers of its district, and where the ratepayers' roll is kept by a local authority, copies as required will aleo be obtained by the Power Board. Where, however, it is necessary to make many deletions, it is suggested that one roll should be fo.rwarded to the Power Board by the local authority, and the board will arrange for the printing of a sufficient number of copies. An Appointment.—Mr. J. Richardson was appointed to repair leaking taps, and to have the sole right to repair leaking cis,terns at a minimum charge of 1/6 each. Mr. Richardson is to make a house to house inspection for wasting water. Repairs.—The foreman of works is to carry out any small tarring and sandin? jobs for ratepayers, provided the estimated cost of the -work is paid for in advance.
