HOSPITAL BOARDS.

ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP. WHANGAREI STANDS t)UT. <Prom Our Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, Tuesday. At yesterday's meeting of the Whangarei Hospital Board the matter as to whether it was desirable to join the Hospital Boards' Association was discussed. Colonel J. N. McCarroll, who raised the subject, stated that lie had been informed by a member of the executive that the Whangarei Board was the only one standing out from membership. At the invitation of the association, the chairman, Mr. T. JKllis, had attended a conference. It was gathered that he was less in favour of joining the association now than he was then. After the purposes for which the association had been formed had been explained, members' opinions as to the benefit of affiliation were about equally divided, it being mentioned that the charge of £15 per annum seemed excessive when compared with the £5 a year charged for affiliation to the Counties' and Municipal Associations. When put to the vote the numbers were equal, and the chairman then exercised his eaeting vote against the proposal to join, which was accordingly defeated.
