FIENDISH TRAIN ROBBERS. AN ORGY OF MURDER. (By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright.) NEW YORK, January 12. Dispatches from Mexico City state that the 20 bandits who robbed the Guadalajara train on Saturday night j locked the doors of all the coaches, cut the throats of the guards and then systematically stabbed or shot 50 passengers. No foreigners were injured although all were robbed, including the travelling manager of the Bank of Montreal. The survivors describe the scene within the coaches as ghastly. The imprisoned passengers cried vainly for mercy. Twenty passengers were burned in one van. Prior to making their escape the ' bandits wrecked the coaches. : Four thousand picked Federal" troops are now in pursuit of the bandits. The i troops are operating under the direct orders of the President of Mexico, General Calles. . • : They will return in disgrace if they fail to bring back the bandits, dead or : alive. i Twenty, bodies, burned beyond recog- i nition, have been recovered from the train. The War Department announces that an unknown number of the bandits who massacred the passengers and guards on the train near Guadalajara, were killed in a fight with the pursuing Federal troops. Eight others were immediately executed. All the loot which had been secured by the bandits was recovered. . The band is believed to have been entirely dispersed.—(Reuter.)
