NOT AN EARTHQUAKE.
THE QUEENSLAND REPORT. BRISBANE, January 12. -An, investigation of the reported volcanic activity at Mount Gregory shows that the rumbling noise which was heard was caueed by large rocks rolling down the mountain side. These were dislodged "7 the heavy rain. What appeared to be smoke proved to be ashes from a bush fire, which were carried to a great height by whirlwinds. (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
