Under the new shearing log submitted by the Australian Workers' Union to the Federal Arbitration Court, to replace the award which expired at the end of last year, a rate of £3 per 100 for flock sheep, without keep, is claimed, but if the shearer earns "less than £9 10/ with keep, the employer must make up the deficiency. If keep is found the minimum £8 is claimed, while for shed hands and general usefuls £6 to £7 with keep is demanded. For cooks 10/ weekly with keep for every man cooked for, or a minimum of £S weekly, is claimed, which will cover all States except Queensland. The case will be heard on March 15.
