FROZEN GULF OF FINLAND.

35 VESSELS STUCK. HEROIC FINNISH AIRMEN. (Received 2.30 p.m.i LONDON. January 12. News from Helsingfors states that continuance of Arctic cold lias thickened the ice in the Gulf of Finland, with the result that thirty-five vessels have stuck near Hogland Island. Two German steamers are reported sunk. The crews of most of the ships are said to be suffering from shortage of food and fuel. Finnish Army aviators from Viberg and Helsingsfors did splendid work in spite of the frightful cold, dropping hundreds of pounds of provisions on the ice near the stranded steamers. Several airmen are suffering from frostbite.—(Reuter.)
