COMMUNISM REPUDIATED.
CHARGE AGAINST COLLEGE.
DENIED BY CHAIRMAN. (By Telegraph.—Press Assoclition.) WELLINGTON", this day. Mr. McCallum, chairman of Victoria College Council, took occasion on retiring from the chair to repudiate a charge made against the council of encouraging Socialism and Communism. On the contrary, .he wished to express his high appreciation of the management. They welcomed freedom of speech and debate among students, but anything tending to a breach of their high duty as citizens they objected to and reprobated. Professor Hunter remarked that similar things were said about almost every university, and the exceptions were dead universities.
