HENDERSON NEWS.

A meeting of Henderson resident s was held in the Public Hall on Tuesday evening for the purpose of considering the advisability of forming a ratepayers' association. Mr. A. Law was appointed to the chair, and explained the object of the meeting. He pointed out that almost every town district had a ratepayers' association, and as considerable sums of money for which the ratppayors were eventually responsible were being expended, it was necessary in the interests of the ratepayers that such an association should be formed. It was carried unanimously that an association, to be called the Henderson Ratepayers' Association, ,be formed. Those persons present who did not desire to become members then withdrew, and the meeting proceeded to elect Its officers as follows: Chairman, Mr. A. Law; vice-chairman, Mr. F. S. Strong : secretary, Mr. W. H. Bell; treasurer, Major Wayne; auditor, Mr. J, Collings; committee, Messrs. J. Halliday, J. Lee, J. Kennedy K. Hughes and J. Wark. The annual subscription was fixed at 2/ per member. A draft of the proposed rules of the association was read, and it was decided to consider them at a general meeting of the association, to be held in January next.
