DANGEROUS DRIVING.

A motor salesman, L. Lord, was charged before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon with dangerous driving. Mr. Woodleigh, who appeared for defendant, pleaded not guilty. Evidence was given in support of the charge by the police and a tramcar motorman. Defendant explained that he was forced to go behind a tramcar in Dominion Road to avert an accident. A hna on his left had pushed him on to the tram line. Had he not gone on the wrong side of the tramcar there must have been an accident. He saw a dear run ahead of him down the road and took it. As soon as he was past tlic car, ho got back again on his right Side of the road. Pic was not going more than 12 miles an hour.

Mr. Poynton said there was too much of vehicles going past tramcars. Even twelve miles an hour was dangerous when' that was done. Defendant was fined 40/, with costs 0/.
