I, « THE NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. The monthly meeting of the council ot . the association was held on Monday, -when there were present: Messrs. K. Clement Kirk (chairman), J. B. MacEwen, A. D. S. ' Duncan, W. E. A. Gill, Capt. Conway, and i Mr. G. O. Sutton (secretary). . I Mr. J. B. MacEwan was elected vice- ' chairman of the council. ! The statement of finances showed a credit ! at the National Bank of Xew Zealand ot > £135 17/3, and at the Savings Bank ot | £57. i 14/3. The Matamata Golf Club, which had pre- ' •rfously resigned from the association, asked i to have its resignation annulled, and the , request was unanimonsly agreed to, ana the club's name placed on the register. It was resolved to print and circulate ' this month the programme for the profee- i sionals' tournament at Dunedin on Febrnary 17th, ISth and 10th. lor which this ' association is giving £150 and the Otago Golf €lub £50 in prize-money. It was reported that the decisions of tne , Rules of Golf Commitee of the Royal and Ancient .Club have now been reprinted up to 1934, and it was resolved to cable Home an order on 22nd December for all clubs which have advised us of their requirements by that date. The secretary of the •Soyal and Ancient advised us of a recent decision to add a note to Rules 22 and "23 as follows:—"A provisional ball may only be played under the second section of -this rule before the Player or his partner coes forward to search for the ball which has been played with the previous stroke."
