A GIANT GHOST.

THE WRAITH OF MIICDHUI. EERIE TALE FROM ABERDEEN. LONDON, December 1. A story of a giant ghost which is said to haunt Macdhui, the second highest mountain in Scotland, on the borders of Banfi'shire and Aberdeenshire, is related by Professor J. N. Collie, of the London University. Tlie professor told a gathering that ho had experienced the most intense fear of his lifetime when he was climbing the mountain some years ago. He was returning from the cairn upon the summit when he heard a crunch, crunch, as though someone were walking behind him. with steps four times as long as his own. He told himself it was all nonsense, but he continued to hear the footsteps through the mist. Seized with terror, he took to his heels and ran. staggering blindly over boulders for four or five miles. Tbe professor said he told the story, years later, to another climber who was famous for bis exploits. The latter said he had had the same experience, adding that he had seen a giant figure round the cairn. "There is something very queer at the top of Macdhui," said Professor Collie. "I will never _o there alone again."—( \ and N.Z. Cable.)
