WENT BLIND.
IMMIGRANT'S SAD PLIGHT. William Dixon (24), an immigrant, who had tramped from Queensland looking for work, went totally blind when about two miles from Inverell, N.S.W., to "which town he had walked from Glen Innes, a distance of 42 miles. He staggered into a shop on the outskirts of the town, and said that he had completed the last stage of the journey; by feeling the fences along the road. He was medically examined, and found to be totally blind. He is being treated at the Inverell Hospital. - When he reached Inverell, Dixon had only 2/10 in his pockets.
