APPEAL FOR UNITY.

I PRIME MINISTER'S MESSAGE. A COMFORTING MAJORITY. (By Telegraph.-Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The Prime Minister, the Hon. J. *G. Coates, issued the following statement to electors: — ■ "I desire to express to the electors of Xew Zealand my sincere thanks for the support they have this day given mc find the candidates who stood in the interests of the Government party. I had no lack of confidence in the determination of the people to do the right thing, Init for all that the result is very gratifying, and the size of the majority particularly comforting. I have implicit faith in the future of New Zealand, and it will be my aim and that of the Government to serve it with all the energy, industry and ability in our power. "Now that the people have grven their verdict, I appeal that all sections will sink their differences .and pull together for the sake of the country. United we can do much. Divided we will accomplish little. . T will lose no time in putting my policy into operation, knowing that it will be for the benefit of the whole of the people. 1 will push on with it with all reasonable speed. "The result has ensured what has been the earnest desire of the people— namely, stable Government. With gratitude I acknowledge what is due to the thousands of electors who have supported the Government candidates, and especially do I .thank those who, in addition, have given their time and energy to .the cause. Supporter.? and opponents can rest assured that no stone will be left unturned to manage and develop New Zealand for the good of the community as a whole."
