Sir,—l see where the Coates <iovernment are making a widespread appeal, with huge newspaper advertisement.-, to the women electors of New Zealand to j safeguard their homes and home life by returning them to power, and for the simple-minded not to heed the political bogy that Mr. C oales is a hardshell Tory or Capitalist. Well. Mr. Coatee is not the only person on the Treasury benches, and" if he is not a Capitalist, his party certainly represents t apitali<ni and big money interest-. They have failed so far to accept the challenge of the editor of the "Auckland Star" for their organiser to publish the names of the contributors to their party funds, which must be considerable to allow of the amount of advertising which they have done of recent weeks. They urge the women electors to vote them back jto power, but I wonder if the women) ! remember only a month or s-o ago when J Mr. Coates. after hearing a Labour dele- I gat ion to him requesting a Royal Commission to be appointed to inquire into jthe basi,> wage, gave it short shrift and! i very little sympathy, after they had I made out a very strong case against the inadequate amount of the wage. He now tells the women that he sympathises with them, while in four years his Government has reduced the wages of the majority of the breadwinners of these women Voters by £16.000.000. while over a corresponding period they have eased. at the workers" expense, taxation on j j their wealthy friends by £10.000.000. j [This is aii example of the wondeiful sym- j { pathy Mr. <.\>ates has for the workers. ■ and he now expects their votes as the '"Man Who Gets Things Done."- —1 am.
