NEW CATHOLIC CHURCH.
llisliop deary' blessed and opened a now church at Poutawhero, near \\ han,ne rft on Sunday. He was assisted by Dean Yamlyk. superior of the Maori missions., and Fathers Kreyinborg and O'Callaghan. The church is a handsome structure built of heart.of kauri, and occupies a conspicuous position over •Whangarei Harbour. It was designed by Father Kreymborg, and erected by a body of recent* Catholic converts, under his active direction and; control. The native choir of-Rotokakalu : took part. Twenty persons \\;ere r confirmed wirings the-afternoon. There wae-.a great-gather-ing of natives from all over the Northland, including numerous chiefs.
