NO CONFIDENCE.
IN MR. ALLEN BELL. HIKURANGI'S DECISION. There was a big attendance at the Criterion Theatre, Hikurangi, to hear Mr. Allen Bell, the sitting member and Reform candidate for the Bay of Islands seat. Mr. B. C. Cherrie, chairman 'of the Hikurangi Town Board, presided and the candidate was accorded an attentive hearing. At the conclusion of his address a motion of thanks and confidence in the candidate was proposed by Mr. Nelson and seconded by Mr. K. Mcßeth, but was declared lost on the voices. A further lhotion, "that this meeting has no confidence in Mr. Allen Bell as member for the Bay of Islands electorate," was carried on the voices amidst a good deal of noise. Notwithstanding the adverse motion, Mr. Bell received a very fine hearing and the meeting was a very good one.
