TOURING TEAM'S TROUBLES.

The Taranaki representative football team, which meets Xcrrth Auckland at Whangarei to-day. had a strenuous trip from New Plymouth. Leaving at 7 a_m. on Tuesday, per motor bus, the original intention was to motor to Auekiand. Nearing the Awakino Gorge, ih-e first trouble "was met in the form of punc*ares. Then, when a few miles from Te Kuiti, brake trouble caused a delay. the teaai not resetting Te Kuiti till - pjn. A fresh start was made, but only a few miles' progress was made when

the brakes seised, causing the hubs to smoke. This happened several times, till within two miles of Oiorohansa. An examination revealed that the back wheel bearings were burnt right out. so the hns was abandoned on the side of the road, the team "walking- to OtoTohanga, a matter of two miles, some incidental training -work being put in with the bail. Ait Otorokanga the team entrained for Frankton. where they arrived at P p.m. Considerable difficulty arose in getting accommodation at Frankton till 3 a_m. on Wednesday, when the express was caught for Auckland, in order to join
