YON HINDENBURG.

AGED PRESIDENT'S BIRTHDAY. I _ -• ' BERLIN. September 30. ' President Hindenburg has administered a cold douche to ardent Junkers and Nationalists, who had planned to hold i big demonstrations on the occasion of his i seventh-eighth birthday on October 2. In a specially-published address the President says that he intends to spend the day quietly in the country. He deprecates demonstrations in his honour, because such acts might lead to party political strife and bring fresh dissension into the ranks of the nations which : should at present show a harmonious and united front. — (Reuter.)
