A G FJCULTUBAL BANn. S" COMMISSION. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, Wednesday. A question as to the cost of the Commission set up to inquire abroad into agricultural banks was asked in the House by the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. Forbes j. He referred to the item in the Supplementary Estimates of £5000, and asked what was being paid to the gentlemen maV-i-ng- up the Commission for "this roving commission of theirs." Was the Commission to go on indefinitely, or was there a fixed time? They had an experience of another Commission "which ran on at an inordinate length, and men whom the Government had had no control over when it was once started. He wanted to know -whether the stun of £3000 was on account, or whether the amount was going to cover the whole expenditure ? The Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr. R. F. Bollard I said that the commissioners had to report by -lune. The stun of £5000 should more than cover the expense. Mr. P. Fraser ("Wellington Central' exj pressed the opinion that the sum of i £5000 would be sufficient to start an j agricultural bank. Instead of doing ! that, they ■were sending three gentlemen j abroad who had already made up then I minds on the subject. I The Prime Minister declared that three ' commissioners were being paid at a rate I equivalent to £1500 per annum in addij tion to travelling expenses.
