RUGBY FOOTBALL.

THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. PONSONBT V. PONEKE. At tha weekly meeting of the A.R.U. executive last night, Mr. Harry Frost presiding, it was decided to arrange a match on October 3 for the Auckland second grade representative team with either a Manukau or a North Waikato team of junior representatives. A communication from Mr. S. Dean intimated that the champion club of Wellington, Poneke, expected to be at full strength for the match against Ponsonby at Eden Park on October 10, when the benefit game for Vie. Badeley •will be played. On account of the difficulty of making new arrangements at this late hour of the season, applications from North Auckland for a visit from a Junior rep. team and Taumarunui for the visit of a senior team were declined. In connection with the HendersonManukau Rovers match on August 22, it was resolved to consult the referee with regard to the result. A communication was received from the Referees' Association that it wished the presentation of a notice of motion at next annual meeting of the union, which, lf carried, would allow the delegates from the association on the Junior Management Board to exercise a vote. It was decided to hold the next committee meeting on October 14, when members will be asked to suggest alterations to the rules. One matter discussed waa the playing of over-age footballers ln the Junior grades. Arrangements for Saturday's matches are as follow: — Interprovlnclal . Match.—Taranaki t. BAY OF PLENTY TOUR.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) HAWERA, Wednesday. The Bay of Plenty team played a Taranaki Maori team to-day, an interesting match resulting. The first spell was very even, neither side being able to score. In the second half the visitors had the advantage, and accumulated 17 points, a potted goal and three tries, two of which were converted. The Maoris did not score.

HAWKE'S BAY TOUR.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. Lancaster Park was in good order to-day when Hawke's Bay met the South. Island Maori team, and, after having the upper hand throughout, won by 45 points to 3. The principal attraction waa. the appearance of Nepia and Mill, who gave very fine exhibitions, though Mill was suffering from incipient influenza. The attendance was about 4000.

The Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Onion decided:to, offer the cups donated to the 1924 All Blacks for display at the Dunedin Exhibition. Messrs. Kltto and Wylie were appointed delegates to the New Zealand Olympic Games Association. Regarding visits from overseas teams the Canterbury Union asked that the New Zealand Union consult the various unions receiving visits regarding admission charges before definitely fixing such- charges. The letter stated, that the charges made In the recent New South Wales match created dissatisfaction among, the football public. It was stated at the meeting that lt was not so much the charge as the tax that hurt, and the chairman hoped they would protest until they got a reduction of it.
