CARINTHIA SAILS SHORTLY. AT AUCKLAND INT DECEMBER. Within less than three weeks the r>-w Cunard liner Carinthia is to leave New York on her long world cruise. Under ,charter to Messrs. Raymond, Whitcomo. land -Co.. of New York, the liner is lo =ail on October 10 for Havana, the fir..t. I port of call in her lengthy itinerary. Sho is expected to arrive at Auckland en December 21, and after a stay of two days will proceed to Wellington and Sydney in continuation of her cruise. Her chief ports of call will be: Havana, Colon, Balboa, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Hilo, Honolulu, Yokohama, Taku, Hongkong, Manila, Zamboanga, Port Moresby, Auckland, Wellington. Sydney, Hobart, Melbourne, Fremantle, BaL.via. Singapore. Colombo, 1 Bombay; Cairo, Xaples, Monte Carlo, Gibraltar, Cherbourg, Southampton, thence to New York. Specially designed for lons' pleasure cruises, the Carinthia is of 27,000 tons displacement. She was built at Barrow-in-Furness by Messrs. Vickers, Ltd.', and is the last of the thirteen vessels of the Cunard Line's post-war programme. The Carinthia will be the most luxurious passenger liner to visit this port to date. The liner's passenger accommodation extends over six decks. Though the general arrangements of her accommodation are constructed on the same lines as the Franconia, the Carinthia contains certain distinct features as regards decoration and furnishing. She has 77 rooms with private baths, and 115 single berth rooms. She has accommodation for a total of 1674 passengers, who are carried in three classes. The liner carries the largest swimming bath of any vessel of her size afloat. The sports arena covers 5000 square feet. A number of electric lifts for the carriage of goods and passengers have been provided. On her world cruise the Carinthia will burn oil fuel.
