Mrs. Voysey was away ; at the time. Mr. Voysey and. his chil- j dren were awakened by a smell of smoke and only just managed to escape from '. the house in their night attire. They ! were unable to save anything from the j > burning house, and their plight as they / stood out scantily attired in the cold night air can he" well imagined. The origin of the fire is unknown, but it is " thought the flames first gained a hold in the kitchen. The house was insured for £400 in the State Fire Office and the furniture and effects in the Phoenix. ' •
