BILLIARDS.
AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP. ROBERTS DEFEATS ROGERS. The second semi-final of the Aucklnnd Provincial Amateur Billiard Championship for Billiards, Limited, Shield, was played last evening at the showrooms of Billiards, Limited. The game between E. V. Roberts, holder of the Shield, and L. Rogers drew a crowded house. Roberts, as usual, gave an attractive display of nil-round billiards, and proved to be too consistent for his opponent, who did not play as well as he did in his earlier games. The balls ran safely for both on occasions, and Roberts played some attractive shots to get position. The flnal scores were : Roberts, 300 : Rogers, 341. The best breaks were: Roberts. 31, 42, 24, 24, 24, 22, 21, 20, aud 20 ; Rogers, 33, 23. 20, and 10. E. V. Roberts and H. P. Valentine will play the linal of 1000 up in two sessions of 500 each, commencing this evening at 7.30, the final session being played to-morrow evening.
