UNION COLD STORAGE.
A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS. (Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, August 14. The rumour of a clash of interests between British and American meat concerns in South America was mentioned at a meeting of the Union Cold Storage Company. Replying to shareholders in that connection, the chairman (Mr. Roger Sing) said there had always been a clash of interests, but he did not think the company need fear it in any way. He declared the report of the Food Commission had enhanced the company's prestige. He stated that cold storage accommodation in the country, particularly in London and.Liverpool, considerably exceeded requirements. Some of their stores remained closed. This was a legacy of the war. The balance on working accounts was £975. A record dividend of 10 per cent was declared. A sum of £149,000 was carried forward. The business continued to grow. The report and accounts were adopted.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
