LOANS FOR NEW SOUTH WALES
SCEPTICS IN LONDON.
LONDON, August 14.
A Press cablegram from Sydney quoted the Premier of New South Wales (Mr. J. T. Lang) as having said that his Government had been guaranteed £10,000,000 loan each year for three years. This has surprised financial circles in London, who are sceptical. Nobody appears to know anything about such an arrangement, and curiosity is expressed regarding the identity of the guarantor, the price, and the rate of interest.
Financiers assert that they never heard of a similar guarantee. — (A. and N.Z.)
