A CHILD DROWNED.
FATALITY AT NEW PLYMOUTH... " & (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ■ NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. A distressing fatality occurred at New Plymouth last evening, when Ronald James Curtis, aged two years and ten months, son of Mr. James Curtis, telegraph linesman, -was drowned in the Mangaotuku stream. The occurrence took place between 5.15 and 6 p.m., and was witnessed by a six-year-old boy, Alan Wilkes, who ran i and informed his mother of what had happened. Two men, Messrs. Riley and Reed, were quickly on trie scene, and I after a short search found the body J alongside an obstacle in the stream ] some distance down from where the boy was stated to have fallen in. A doctor who was summoned pronounced life extinct.
