PUBLIC AND THE SHIPS
. s . VISITING DAILY. CALIFORNIA OX SUNDAY. Naturally the public, is keenly interested in knowing when they can visit the battleships. Every facility is being given, but the shore visitors must provide their own means of transport. The arrangements made by the naval authorities arc as follows:— - (a) The seven battleships lying at anchor will be open daily from 1 p.m. to o p.m. Visitors to these ships must provide their own transportation to the ships and must be particular to provide their own transportation back to' shore, as .the' ships' boats cannot handle, visitors owing to the large number of demands 'necessary for handling the targe liberty [parties, etc. (b) The California, secured to Prince's wharf, will' be open to public inspection on Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (c) It* may be possible to arrange for special' inspections of the California by organisations.
