FLEET'S GIANT DISTRIBUTION.
"Guess the boys haven't much left from their last pay. They spent it good and plenty in Sydney," said an officer of the flagship "California, in conversation with a "Star" representative to-day. "But they'll have another pay coming soon, all in good, golden sovereigns, and you.bet you'll see some good spending." It is a fact that the Americans are generous distributors of cash, and there will be a keen demand for things to take away, as well as' expenditure on the pleasures and recreations of the day. It was stated that there will be an officers' pay on 15th inst, and a men's pay on 20th inst. On the flagship alonethere will be payment made of 50.000 dollars, or, roughly. £0000, and as there are seven other ships carrying the same number of men and two smaller ships, the amount of money to be distributed among the personnel of the fleet, will approximate, something likp £50,000 or over. Even a moderate percentage of that being circulated in Auckland should inspire a feeling of great cheerfulness among the business community of Auckland.
