The United States .Tennis Association, despite Johnston's victory over Richards on August 8, decided on another three out of a five-set match, scheduled for August 12, to determine number two Davis Cup player.— (A. and N.Z. He does not agree to the proposal that he be rested until the Tests. Gilligan, discussing the prospects, says: "Tate is perfectly fit. lam unable to assist the Sussex bowling, hence I am nursing him, and promoted him to the first battincr list in order to get a respite before bowling.
